Abstract

This article aims to determine how the effect of the Reciprocal Teaching Approach on Students' Mathematical Comprehension Ability in Grade VII Materials of SMPN 2 Buru. The type of research used in this study was a quasi-experimental study, which used pretest-posttest control group designs. The population of this study was all seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Buru in the 2021/2022 academic year as many as 61 students distributed in three classes. The samples of this study were students of class VII 1 and VII 2 who were selected by purposive random sampling technique. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire sheet and a test in the form of test questions. The results showed that the reciprocal teaching approach had an effect on the students' mathematical understanding ability in grade VII material at SMPN 2 buru. This can be seen based on the results of the analysis of the independent sample test, the value of t = 7.167 and the value of Sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 because Sig. < α 0.000 < 0.05, thus Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the reciprocal teaching approach has an effect on students' mathematical understanding ability
