Abstract

Mathematical communication is the ability or skill of students in expressing mathematical ideas in the form of concepts, formulas, and strategies for solving a problem and interpreting it orally and in writing. The objectives of this study are 1) to determine mathematical communication skills after the application of Problem Based Instruction assisted by ICT media, 2 ) To compare the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students between Preoblem Based Instruction with the help of ICT media and Problem Based Instruction with the help of simple teaching aids. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a post-test only control group design. observation Mathematical communication ability data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of the hypothesis test sample T The test showed that the sig value 0.013 <0.05 or the arithmetic value 0,2.566 > t table 0.198 then the hypothesis was accepted or there was an effect of k The mathematical communication ability of junior high school students after applying problem based instruction assisted by ICT media and the results of descriptive data analysis can be seen that the average value of the experimental class is 80.73 with a minimum score of 58 and a maximum of 100, while in the control class the average value is 72.70 with a minimum value of 50 and a maximum of 91. So it can be concluded that the mathematical communication ability of the experimental class is higher than the control class.
