Abstract

Cognitive conflict is a situation where there is an incompatibility between a person's cognitive structure and information that has just been obtained from outside. Uncertainty, doubt, confusion, contradiction, which is contrary to what is in his mind, then these things become signs of cognitive conflict. Cognitive structures in the human brain develop through environmental interactions through assimilation and accommodation. This study aims to determine the characteristics of students in solving problems that are cognitive conflict. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA 4 MAN AMBON using instruments in the form of test questions and interviews and then taking 2 students as subjects who met indicators of cognitive conflict. Based on the results of the research, it shows that students who have experience in solving problems or in other words new schemes or information obtained from outside are in fact the same as the schemes or information they have, this will make it easier for students to solve problems, but it is different from students who have no experience. or in other words, the scheme or information that has just been obtained from outside turns out to be not the same as the scheme or information that he has, this can also affect the process of solving a problem or a problem.
