Abstract

Inquiry learning strategies are a series of learning activities that emphasize the process of thinking critically and analytically to search for and find their own answers to a problem in question. This research aims to find out whether there is an influence of inquiry learning strategies on the critical thinking abilities of Class VII Middle School students on quadrilateral material. This research method uses Quasy Experimental (quasi-experiment). The samples taken are class VII-I (21) and class VII-II (21). Data collection uses tests and decommentation. The data analysis technique uses the t test for the final test results of students' critical thinking abilities in the experimental class and control class with a level of 0.05. The results of this research indicate that there is an influence of inquiry learning strategies on students' critical thinking abilities. This is proven by the results of the hypothesis test, tcount = 3.945 while ttable = 2.085, which means that tcount > ttable so that H0 is rejected and H1 can be accepted. This indicates that there are differences in students' critical thinking abilities between students who use inquiry learning strategies and students who use conventional learning models (lectures and assignments).
