Abstract

Female journalist is an individual doing the work of journalism in the field of news coverage. This study deals with how the mass media of women journalists in the city of Ambon, constructing meaning behind choosing the profession of journalists. This study is based on the perspective of social action research methods in-depth interviews and participant observation to obtain data in the field. Based on interviews and observations about the motivations of women researchers chose the profession of journalists, researchers have developed a typology construction of meaning associated with the underlying motives of women to choose a profession a journalist. Female journalist as a subject was considered to have a cause and motive motive purpose of working in the media. Subject get discrimination from the surrounding environment, constructed journalist profession for men's work. They treat cultural environment by creating stereotypes difficulty setting time at work and domestic affairs as the nature of women.
