Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic education as an effort to prevent social conflicts in the villages of Morella and Mamala, Central Maluku Regency. Research on social conflicts has been widely conducted, but there is still no significant answer to the question of whether Islamic education can be used as a conflict prevention measure. The research method used to obtain in-depth and objective data was a qualitative approach with a case study type, employing techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis process includes data reduction, display, drawing conclusions, and verification. The findings of this study show that efforts to prevent conflict in Morella and Mamala are carried out through the implementation of non-formal Islamic education, namely by reviving Quran study groups intended for youth and teenagers in both villages, with the main program being Quran recitation and supporting programs such as collective dhikr and religious gatherings. This implementation of Islamic education is led by the youth leaders of Morella and Mamala and facilitated by the mosque imam, the Remas (Youth Mosque Group) of Al-Muhibbin Mosque in Mamala, and the Quran study facilitators in Morella. However, there are several challenges, including the lack of support from the village government, the limited teaching of Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah islamiyah) in religious gatherings, and the insufficient support from parents as motivators. Therefore, the appropriate solution is to increase support from the village government, strengthen the tradition of respecting elders, and incorporate more teachings on ukhuwah islamiyah from religious leaders, especially in the village of Morella.
