Abstract

The rapid development of technology requires teaching materials to continuously innovate, one of which is through the utilization of Augmented Reality (AR) technology. However, students’ understanding of the human digestive system, which is abstract in nature, remains relatively low due to the limited availability of teaching materials capable of visualizing the material concretely. This study aims to develop an AR-based Science E-Module on the Human Digestive System for eighth-grade junior high school students that is valid, practical, and effective. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4-D model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, the study was conducted only up to the limited dissemination stage due to constraints of time, cost, and resources. Data were collected through validity questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test questions, which were then analyzed to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the E-Module. The results showed that the developed AR-based Science E-Module achieved a very valid category, with an average validity score of 98%. The practicality level based on the responses of teachers and students was also categorized as very practical, with an average score of 98% for each. Meanwhile, the effectiveness level was categorized as moderate, with an average N-Gain score of 0.70, equivalent to 70.47%, indicating a fairly effective category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the AR-based Science E-Module on the Human Digestive System meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and fairly effective in improving students’ learning outcomes.
