Struktur Komunitas Diatom di Perairan Pulau Pombo, Maluku Tengah

Sebagai kawasan konservasi, perairan Pulau Pombo pernah dilakukan beberapa penelitian tetang sumberdaya perairan, namun untuk observasi dan penelitian tentang komunitas diatom belum dilakukan. Penelitian yang dilakukan saat ini adalah untuk mempelajari serta mengetahui komunitas diatom dan hubungannya dengan parameter hidrologi di perairan konservasi Pulau Pombo. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama musim barat pada Bulan Juni - Agustus 2010 terhadap 7 stasiun pengamatan yang mengelilingi Pulau Pombo dengan mengamati parameter plankton (diatom), oksigen terlarut, fosfat, nitrat, suhu dan salinitas. Kelimpahan rata-rata diatom di stasiun pengamatan dari 6 kali pengamatan bervariasi dengan kisaran 3,06 x 105 – 7,98 x 105 sel/m3. Marga diatom yang tergolong dominan dengan frekuensi kehadiran yang tinggi pada pengamatan ini adalah Chaetoceros, Rhizosolenia, Nitzschia, Bakteriastrum dan Astereonela. Kondisi komunitas diatom di Perairan Konservasi Pulau Pombo selama musim Timur berada pada keadaan stabil atau seimbang (steady state), dimana kondisi hidrologi perairan sangat mempengaruhi secara alami.References
