Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Indonesia’s legal politics in supporting human rights (HR) in Palestine and the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to advocate for the establishment of a Palestinian state. The study focuses on two main research questions: first, how Indonesia’s legal politics contributes to the protection of human rights for the Palestinian people; and second, what concrete actions the Government of the Republic of Indonesia takes to support the independence and sovereignty of Palestine. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a socio-legal approach. Data were collected through document studies (laws, foreign policy regulations, UN resolutions), literature review (academic journals and international human rights reports), and content analysis of official government statements and diplomatic speeches. The analysis was conducted thematically to examine the relationship between Indonesia’s legal politics, human rights protection, and support for Palestine. The findings indicate that Indonesia’s legal politics plays a significant role in supporting human rights in Palestine, based on constitutional principles and a free-active foreign policy. Indonesia consistently promotes the recognition of Palestinian rights in international forums, including the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Measures taken include active diplomacy, legal and human rights advocacy, mobilization of international support, and humanitarian aid in education, health, and basic needs. This support is not merely normative but implemented concretely through sustained diplomacy and solidarity programs.
