Peer Review Process
1. Overview
All manuscripts submitted to Lingue: Jurnal Bahasa, Budaya, dan Sastra are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process. The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers, and the identities of reviewers are concealed from authors. Each manuscript that passes initial screening is reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript.
2. Review Stages
- Initial screening. The editor checks the manuscript’s fit with the Focus and Scope, its compliance with the Author Guidelines and template, and its similarity score in accordance with the Plagiarism Policy. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned or rejected without external review.
- Assignment of reviewers. The editor removes identifying information from the manuscript and assigns it to at least two reviewers.
- Peer review. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript using the journal’s review form and submit a recommendation.
- Editorial decision. The editor makes a decision based on the reviewers’ reports. If the reviewers’ recommendations differ significantly, the editor may invite an additional reviewer or consult the Editor-in-Chief.
- Revision. Authors revise the manuscript and submit a response letter explaining how each comment has been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers.
- Final decision and production. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout, and proofreading before publication.
3. Review Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:
- consistency among the title, abstract, findings and discussion, and conclusion;
- originality and novelty of the contribution;
- clarity and appropriateness of the theoretical framework and research method;
- depth of analysis and soundness of the conclusions;
- scientific contribution to language, literary, cultural, or educational studies;
- relevance, currency, and accuracy of the references;
- clarity of language and organisation.
4. Editorial Decisions
The editor makes one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Resubmit for Review, or Reject. The final decision on publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
5. Timeline
The journal aims to complete initial screening within 2 weeks of submission, and peer review within 4–6 weeks of reviewer assignment. Authors are expected to return revised manuscripts within 2 weeks for minor revisions and 4 weeks for major revisions. The full process from submission to decision usually takes 2–3 months.
6. Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest
Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers must not share, cite, or use them for their own purposes. Reviewers must decline an invitation if they have a conflict of interest, such as a close professional or personal relationship with the authors, or if they can identify the authors. Book reviews are evaluated through editorial review by the editorial board.
7. Appeals
Authors who believe a decision was based on a factual error or a procedural irregularity may submit a reasoned appeal to the Editor-in-Chief at jurnallingue@uinambon.ac.id. Appeals are handled by an editor who was not involved in the original decision.
8. Fees
No fee is charged for submission or peer review. An Article Processing Charge applies only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication, as described on the Articles Processing Charge page. Payment of fees has no influence on editorial decisions.
